Frequently Asked Questions
What is Rapid Resolution Therapy?
Rapid Resolution Therapy is a cutting edge approach to mental health, created by the brilliantly innovative Dr. Jon Connelly. Dr. Connelly developed a way to clear the negative effects of trauma, without making people go through a process that takes a long time and is emotionally painful. Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) offers a perspective, or way of thinking about things, that is designed to clear and update the mind so that past events are no longer troubling. RRT employs multi-level communication, speaking to both the conscious and unconscious mind, so that changes in thinking, feeling, and behavior happen automatically in a way that feels natural. The results can be dramatic and occur very quickly.

How do I know if I have anxiety?
Some common symptoms of anxiety:
-insomnia
-dysregulated emotions (highly sensitive and/or numb to emotions)
-rapid heart beat and fast, shallow breathing
-panic attacks
-irrational fearfulness
-poor digestion
-cravings (commonly for sugar)
-unable to connect socially (which causes loneliness)
-outbursts of anger
-worrying
-fear of the future
Anxiety manifests in many different ways. It feels like being stuck in a state of too amped up and depleted at the same time.

How do I prepare for a Rapid Resolution Therapy session?
You will need a stable internet connection, functioning camera and audio, and somewhere to sit with good lighting. Please be in a quiet and private area, where you will be undisturbed.
Have in mind what you would like to address (specifically, something you are looking to change about how you have been thinking, feeling, or acting). No other preparation is necessary. It is okay if you are not fully clear on what there is to address, because that can be part of the session.
How should I expect to feel after my RRT session?
Expect to feel lighter and have extra energy after your session. You should feel peaceful and relaxed, as if a burden has been taken off of your shoulders.
The immediate results depend on the situation and you may need multiple sessions to achieve what you are looking for. The intention is to have you feeling better right away, however giving a guarantee is unfortunately not possible.
How is Rapid Resolution Therapy different from traditional talk therapy?
RRT is VERY different from traditional talk therapy is a variety of ways. The first is that the facilitator takes full responsibility for causing the shift for you. It is not your job to do it yourself.
Another difference is that I do not believe that you have to feel unpleasant emotions in order to “release” them and “get them out”. Instead, I intend to cause your mind to shift in such a way that those feelings either don’t occur or when they occur, it is not as distressing. Of course, emotions are a part of life, and they ebb and flow like everything else. However, unlike with other types of therapy, I do not believe that feeling worse is the most direct route to feeling better.

What is somatic bodywork?
Somatic bodywork is a hands-on approach to nervous system regulation and re-alignment of the body to optimize movement patterns. The idea is to get the energy system of the body flowing, so that areas of stuck-ness, weakness, or tension dissolve.
Human touch can be powerfully therapeutic, especially for those who lack touch in their daily life or have been touched in ways that were upsetting. In somatic bodywork, my nervous system is communicating to your nervous system, allowing for a connection that goes beyond words.

How do I prepare for a somatic bodywork session?
Wear comfortable clothing (think: athletic wear). Avoid highly stimulating activities or substances beforehand (like intense exercise and excessive caffeine).
What is a somatic bodywork session like?
You will be laying face up or face down on a massage table and remain fully clothed. I may ask you to show me simple movements, like raising your arms above your head or walking around the room. Occasionally, body discomfort or uncomfortable emotions may arise, but there should be no physical pain or overwhelming emotions.
How should I expect to feel after my bodywork session?
Some people get a burst of energy afterwards and some people feel relaxed to the point of wanting to take a long nap. Ideally, give yourself some time (1-2h) after the session to take it easy and integrate.

How is bodywork different from getting a massage?
A massage is primarily mechanical, whereas bodywork is mechanical and energetic. The mind and the body are seen as an inextricable system, meaning that your thoughts, emotions, memories, and history all influence how your body operates. To get your body feeling and functioning at its best, all of this is taken into account.
